The federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has restored security and fire services to Gombe, Kebbi airports and Bebi Airstrip.
The agency had in a notice to airmen (NOTAM) announced the withdrawal of services to the airports following their inability to pay debts totaling N799, 610, 160.
Gombe Airport had accumulated debt of N607, 289, 972; Kebbi, N124, 547, 240 and Bebi Airstrip, N76, 772, 948.
NewsGazette gathered that services were restored following negotiations to offset the debts.
Meanwhile, Arik Air said that it had reinstated flights to Osubi Airstrip, Warri and Gombe Airport as well as moved all Port Harcourt-bound flights back to the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) with immediate effect.
“This follows the suspension of an earlier decision by Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s (FAAN) to withdraw aviation security, fire fighting and rescue services to the airports.
“Arik Air regrets any inconvenience the earlier closure of the three airports may have caused its esteemed customers,” said spokesman for the airline, Mr. Adebanji Ola in a statement.
