The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nacho) has ended the year by extending its groundling contracts with Emirates, Turkish and Virgin Atlantic airlines.
Spokesman for the aviation ground handling firm, Mr Olutayo Ajakaye said in a statement that the contract with Emirate was extended till 2029 while the ones with Virgin and Turkish airlines were extended to 2028 and December 2029 respectively.
According to the statement, Emirates, which resumed schedule flight operations to Nigeria in October, had previously appointed nacho to provide it with complete ground handling services, adding that “this arrangement will now be in place for the next five years.
The ground handling firm said the extension of the contracts “will further enable the company meet up with its projected revenue of N300 billion by 2029.”
The company announced the target during its recent facts behind the figures presentation at the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).
“British carrier, Virgin, has always pitched its tent with NAHCO for excellent service delivery.
“The ground handlers’ relationship with Turkish Airlines dates back several years and it has consistently been the preferred service provider for the airline,” the statement further said.
Ajakaye quoted the group managing director/chief executive officer of nacho, Mr. Indranil Gupta as describing the end-of-the-year deals “very good news for the company and its shareholders.”
“For 45 years NAHCO has been the leader in ground handling service in Nigeria and the entire West Africa region. We will continue to lead the way, satisfy our clients and delight our shareholders. It is a promise we will keep” Gupta said.
He pledged that the groundling firm would deliver excellent service to its airline clients using the new and modern equipment the Company had been procuring and deploying since Q2 this year.
“NAHCO will continue to invest in equipment and in training to meet our obligations to our clients,” he said.
For his part, the group executive director, commercial & business development, Mr Saheed Lasisi, described the contracts as “significant development in the relationship between NAHCO and these great organizations.”
“It is a measure of the trust that the airlines have in us that they have extended our contract with them for these respective years. We are so delighted with this and will go beyond expectations in making them the most satisfied airlines operating into and out of Nigeria,” Lasisi said.
