The chief executive officers of Nigeria’s aviation agencies
will form the panel of discussants at the 23rd conference of the
League Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) with the rector of the
Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Capt. Abdulsalami Mohammed
as the moderator
The annual conference, which holds on July 17, 2019 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja has ‘Boosting aviation investment through policy’ as the theme.
The chairman of the conference committee, Mr. Albinus Chiedu, in a press statement on Monday listed the director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Muhtar Usman, the commissioner of Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), Mr. Akin Olateru, managing director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Capt. Fola Akinkuotu and the managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt. Hamisu Yadudu as the other panelists.
Others expected at the event include the chairman of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema, the chief executive officer of Arik Air, Capt. Roy Ilegbodu, and the chief executive officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Babatunde Irukera, among many others.
He said the conference will be chaired by the chief executive officer of Med-View Airline, Mr. Muneer Bankole, while the former director general of the NCAA, Dr. Harold Demuren will deliver the lead paper on ‘Boosting aviation investment through policy: Government’s perspective.’
Chiedu also disclosed that the chief executive officer of TopBrass Aviation Ltd and former managing director of NAMA, Capt. Roland Iyayi, would deliver the second paper entitled: ‘Boosting aviation investment through policy: An airlines’ perspective.’
Born on April 15, 1956 in Dambatta local government area of Kano State, Mohammed obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1969 from Dambatta Primary School in Kano.
Thereafter, he attended the Government College Kano where he obtained the O/L West African School Certificate (WASSC) in 1974.
By 1977 he had his Commercial Pilot Training from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Centre (NCATC), now Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Zaria.
Mohammed also attended Oxford Air Training School, Kidlington England where he trained as a flight instructor.
By 1981, he also had his Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) Rating from the Flight Safety Academy, Vero Beach, Florida, USA.
Muhammad has 42 years of aviation industry experience, with over 18,000 flight hours.
He has worked with various airlines, including the defunct Discovery Airways Ltd, Arik Air Limited, Virgin Nigeria/Air Nigeria, DAS Air Cargo, Merchant Express Cargo Airline, Okada Airline, E.A.S Cargo Airlines, and United Air Service.
He has flown various aircraft including B707, B727, B737, B767, DC10 and A340, among others.
He also held various management positions, which include training captain, chief pilot, head of training and standards, director of flight operations, managing director of various airlines.
Besides, he worked with NCAA and was the chairman of the committee on the establishment of a national carrier.
