The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) yesterday confirmed 86 new cases of coronavirus disease in the country, the highest figure so far since it reported the first case on February 27.
With this update, the toll has spiked to 627 from 541 as of Saturday night.
A breakdown of the cases showed that Lagos reported 70, FCT, 7; Katsina and Akwa Ibom, 3 cases each; Jigawa, Bauchi and Borno, one case apiece
A breakdown of all the cases shows that Lagos State has so far reported 376 cases, followed by FCT – 88, Kano – 36, Osun – 20, Oyo – 16, Edo – 15, Ogun and Katsina, 12 cases each, while Kwara and Akwa Ibom have recorded nine cases each.
Bauchi has 7 cases, Kaduna – 6, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti, 3 cases each, Enugu, Rivers, Niger and Jigawa have two cases each, while Benue, Anambra and Borno have recorded one apiece.
Twenty-one states and the FCT have so far reported at least a case of the disease.
Meanwhile, NCDC reviewed the number of Covid-19 cases in Ekiti for its April 18 report.
The agency said in a tweet that Ekiti State recorded 3 confirmed cases and not 4.
“Yesterday (April 18), we erroneously reported one new case in Ekiti. This was wrong and was caused by an error in the verification process. Ekiti state has 3 confirmed cases, NOT 4,” it said.
Based on the correction, NCDC said there were 541 (not 542) confirmed cases of the disease as of April 18 with 166 discharged and 19 deaths.
