Nigeria on Wednesday recorded 195 new COVID-19 cases bringing to 3,145 the total number of confirmed cases in the country.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said in its late night update that Lagos recorded 82 new cases; Kano, 30; Zamfara, 19; Sokoto, 18; Borno, 10; Federal Capital Territory (FCT), nine; Oyo, 8; Kebbi and Gombe, 5 each; Ogun, 4; Katsina, 3, while Kaduna and Adamawa had one each.
“So far, 3,145 confirmed cases of COVID-19 are in Nigeria. 534 persons have been discharged, while 103 have died,” said the public health agency.
The agency said Lagos State has 1308 total cases with 30 deaths and 358 recoveries.
Kano is next with 427 cases, six recoveries and 13 attendant deaths while Borno State has reported 116 infections with 14 resultant deaths and zero recoveries.
Katsina State has recorded 95 cases, eight discharged patients and eight deaths while Sokoto State has confirmed 85 cases with eight deaths and one recovery.
Others with four or less recorded COVID-19 deaths include Abuja as well as Ogun, Kaduna, Edo, Oyo, Zamfara, Jigawa, Osun, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Yobe, Ekiti and Nasarawa States.
The NCDC said a total of 21,208 samples had been tested so far, out of which 3,145 positive cases were recorded.
Also yesterday, the Lagos State government discharged 37 more patients from its isolation centres, bringing to 358 the total number of successfully treated persons in the state.
The state governor and incident commander, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the patients were 19 females and 18 males, including an Indian national.
“Five of the patients were discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba; 25 from the Onikan Isolation Centre and seven from the Eti-Osa (Landmark) Isolation Centres.
“With this, the number of patients successfully managed and discharged in Lagos has risen to 358,” he said.
