The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has inaugurated a staff joint consultative forum to strengthen the relationship between its management and workforce.

The agency said in a release that its director general, Dr Bashir Jamoh, who inaugurated the 18-member forum in Lagos, said communication between the management and staff is important to moving the maritime industry forward.

Represented by the director of administration and human resources, Mrs. Ronke Thomas, the director general acknowledged the recent achievements in the agency’s core mandates stating that they were driven by the workforce’s motivation.

“Management is not about us and them. Effective management is the ability to get the best out of the workforce and we have always championed this since we took leadership of this Agency.

“We want to further give the workforce a voice, which will be another milestone in the history of this agency,” he said

Jamoh stress the importance of the consultative forum saying as someone who rose through the ranks and spent over three decades in the industry, he was aware of the yearnings of the staff. He said he would prioritise anything that would grow maritime in Nigeria
