A nine-man Cote d’Ivoire team trounced Mali 2-1 on Saturday to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by the country.
Reduced to 10 men by a red card at the end of the first half, the Ivorians fell behind in the second half to a Nene Dorgeles goal only for Mali’s Simon Adingra to equalise in the 90th minute.
Diakite was, however, shown a second yellow card for taking off his shirt while celebrating which reduced the hosts to nine players.
