As the Ebola virus disease (EVD), also known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) or simply Ebola is reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said that there is no outbreak of the disease in Nigeria or at any of the country’s airports.

FAAN’s acting general manager, corporate affairs Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu assured airport users and passengers of safety at the nation’s airports as the World Health Organization announces the outbreak of the disease in that Central African country.

Yakubu who enjoined passengers and airport users to go about their business activities without fear said in a statement issued in Lagos that the agency had put adequate measures in place to checkmate the recurrence of any such outbreak in Nigeria.

She said all measures adopted in 2014 to curtail the dreaded virus had been fortified.

“The EBOLA screening points and detecting machines have been fully re-instated at the airports. The Authority is also collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Health, through the Port Health Service to reactivate the EBOLA Awareness and Sensitization Campaign,” she said.
