The chairman of Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema, has announced the sponsorship of indigent youths across the country to read courses in aviation at the Azman University of Aviation, Kano.
Onyema announced this when a delegation from the university led by its founder and chairman, Azman Air, Mr Abdulmunaf Sarina, paid him (Onyema) a courtesy visit at the airline’s headquarters in Lagos.
He pledged to give scholarships to many youths who are unable to afford university education but meet the requirements.
Onyema lauded the university for its commitment to providing quality education in the country while adding that he believes in the vision of its founder.
Stressing that education is key to the advancement of any society, Onyema specifically commended Sarina for choosing to invest in the aviation sector, saying “it is a strategic contribution towards the achievement of government’s blueprint for education.”
“I call on other well-meaning Nigerians to consider corporate social responsibility (CSR) in education as it is the bedrock of any society”, he said.
In his remarks, Sarina expressed gratitude to Onyema for the support and his many other humanitarian interventions which, according to him, have tremendously impacted numerous Nigerians, especially his philanthropy, charity, CSR initiatives, advocacy for peace, broad nationalism, and massive job creation.
Beside Sarina, the other members of the delegation were the executive vice president of the institution, Mr Mustapha Sarina, vice chancellor, Prof. Fatima Mukhtar, registrar, Mr. Aminu Lawal, bursar, Mr. Ahmed Balarabe, librarian, Dr. Ali Garba, and the head of information technology, Mr. Awotunde Adedeji.
