Pastor Adeboye loses son as former GS of Assemblies of God, Osueke dies at 79

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has been reported to have lost his third child, Pastor Dare Adeboye to the cold hands of death.

It was gathered that the 42-year-old, who is Adeboye’s third son, died in his sleep on Wednesday in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he lived with his family.

According to reports, the deceased, who was the assistant pastor in charge of Region (Youth) 35, had ministered the previous day.

According to report, the deceased wife, Temiloluwa, noticed her husband’s unusual sleeping hours and could not reach him on phone.

She reportedly raised the alarm and he was discovered dead.

The deceased was neither sick nor on medication when the tragic incident happened.

Meanwhile, the former general superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, Rev. Dr Charles Osueke has died at 79.

A source close to the church said the deceased who led the church for 22 years as general superintendent before his retirement in November 2010, died in the early hours of Thursday.

The source said the 79-year old preacher was hospitalized sometime last week following ill health but was later discharged from the hospital.

The source said the late cleric had his night devotion as usual on Wednesday night before going to bed but could not make it in the morning as he passed on later.

Confirming the news, a former executive council member of the church, Rev. P. K Emeaba, told Vanguard that Osueke was reported sick a few days earlier and taken to the hospital.

The late Osueke who was born on May 31, 1942, hailed from Umuomumu, Mbieri, Mbaitolu in Imo State.

Some of his major achievements as the general superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria include the launch of the Decade of Harvest which resulted in great missionary work and revival across Nigeria, Evangel University, Evangel Camp Okpoto, Peniel annual convention of the church, among others.

He is survived by his wife, Rev. Mrs. Blessing Osueke, three children and many grandchildren.
