The ongoing governorship and state house of assembly elections has already claimed the lives of three persons in Rivers State.
One person identified as Michael Abednego, was said to have been killed in Ahoada West local government area of the state.
Vanguard reports that Abednego from ward 8 was shot dead by a uniform man alleged to be a mobile police officer attached to a high profile politician in the state.
It was gathered that the incident happened around 5am at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akinnima community in Ahoada West.
Besides, an unnamed former All Progressives Congress (APC) woman leader and another unnamed man were killed in Ndoni, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area.
Unconfirmed report said the two were shot dead by unknown persons in front of the local government secretariat.
In Imo State, three armed men in police uniform reportedly stormed Ward 6 Ngor Okpala, shot severally into the air and carried away voting materials.
A police officer attached to INEC control room in Owerri, confirmed that the police has received the report.
“The police command has received the report and the commissioner of police has given specific instructions on the matter,” said the policeman who craved anonymity.
And in Ebonyi State, persons suspected to be political thugs attacked INEC office in Ezza North local government area of the state and torched the registration area center (RAC) in Umuoghara in the early hours of today.
The fire, it was gathered destroyed sensitive and non sensitive materials to be used for today’s governorship and state house of assembly elections in the affected areas.
The attackers also were also said to have burnt down Community Secondary School Okposi Umuoghara in the area.
Spokesman for the Ebonyin State police command, Ms. Loveth Odah and the resident electoral commissioner for the state, Prof. Godswill Obioma confirmed the incidents.
Meanwhile, INEC postponed the state House of Assembly election across Mopamuro local government area of Kogi state.
The electoral officer for the local government, Mr. Opanachi Ojodale, told newsmen, at the INEC office in Mopa that the election was postponed to Sunday March 10, due to wrong ballot papers that were taken to the area.
He said the ballot papers belonging to Akpa local government in Kogi East, were taken to Mopamuro, development that was discovered in the early hours of today (election day).
Ojodale said the new ballot papers for Mopamuro would get to the local government from Abuja later in the day.
