A Lagos-Abuja-Yola bound flight operated by Med-View Airline was aborted today after the pilot noticed during the take-off rolls that the cooling system had packed up.
It was gathered that the aircraft which had 100 passengers and crew on board was still taxiing on the runway of the domestic wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport when the pilot noticed that the cabin had become hot.
Speaking in an interview with News Gazette, media consultant to the airline, Mr. Obuke Oyibotha who confirmed the incident said: “The incident happened around midday. The aircraft did not make an air return. The aircraft was taxiing when the captain noticed that the cabin was hot.
“If he had taken off, it could have stabilised the cooling system but as a precautionary measure, he taxied back to base.
“That was what happened and nobody was hurt. The said aircraft is on ground and our team of engineers is examining the aircraft to ascertain what led to it
“The passengers were disembarked and transferred to another aircraft to continue their journey to Abuja,” said Oyibotha.
