Power outage occurred at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos leading to a disruption of operations in some sections of the airport.
News Gazette gathered that the outage-induced disruption which occurred around 11.30am was caused by a spark at the E-Finger of the airport.
An airport employee who craved anonymity said a section of the airport was temporarily thrown into darkness until FAAN electricians rectified the problem afterwards.
He said the incident affected the Avio Bridge E-54 wing and that a swift response by firefighters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) saved the situation from degenerating.
The source attributed the incident to some of the recently fitted cables.
The management of FAAN confirmed the incident in a statement signed by the acting general manager, corporate affairs, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu who said power was restored shortly after the incident occurred.
“The management of FAAN wishes to inform the general public that power has been restored shortly after the spark that happened at the Finger Main Distribution Board at the E-Finger of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
“A spark occurred at the E-Finger of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, at about 11.30am on October 27, 2016.
“However, the engineers successfully corrected all defaults and normalcy was restored at affected areas,” said Yakubu in a press statement.
The statement also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the interruption while assuring passengers, airlines and the general public of safety and security at the airport.
It would be recalled that last month, fire engulfed the D-wing Departure of the airport.
There was also another fire outbreak which affected the Skye Bank office at the airport and other tenants at the terminal.
