The presidency has confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari had made a “technical stopover” in London, United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria.
The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, said in Abuja that: “They had a technical stopover in London. I am sure if you keep your ears to the ground, you will hear of his arrival soon.”
Shehu who did not give details of the “technical stopover” however said “it’s not something to worry about.”
The president was expected in Nigeria on Wednesday and was to leave Abuja on Friday for Daura to rest.
The president’s official aircraft, Eagle One, left Joint Base Andrews military airfield in Washington on Tuesday morning as twitted by Bashir Ahmad, on this Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad.
“President @MBuhari has departed Joint Base Andrews Airport for Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja after a Working Visit to Washington DC where he had bilateral talks with US President @realDonaldTrump, and met with a group of business executives. #PMBinDC”.
Buhari was said to have arrived in London at 9:42 p.m., according to Flight Radar 24, which tracks air traffic across the world.
It would be recalled that President Buhari left Abuja on April 28, 2018 on an official working visit to the United States of America, on the invitation of President Trump.
He held bilateral talks with President Trump and left Washington, D.C. on Tuesday after the Monday meeting with his host.
