Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to release the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare within 24 hours.

It would be recalled that the DSS has consistently flouted court order to release the two men who are standing trial for alleged treasonable felony.

The DSS has always given reasons for not releasing the men.

One of the reasons, according to the DSS, was that the people who stood as sureties for the two detainees had not shown up.

In its ruling today, Justice Ojukwu awarded a N100, 000 fine against the DSS for its delay to serve the defence counsel with additional proof of evidence in the ongoing trial of the two accused.

She said the fine must be paid to the defendants before the next adjourned date of December 6, 2019 (tomorrow).

“This matter cannot go on. There is no way it can go on, and the adjournment is at your instance,” said the judge.

But despite the court order, the DSS returned the duo to its custody.
