The Rotary Club of Ikeja Airport District 9110 has conferred the award of Professional Excellence in Aviation Reportage on the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC).
The league was recognised with the award recently at the investiture of Mr. Eta Neji as the third president of the club.
Speaking at the ceremony held in Ikeja, Neji said the league’s contribution to the sustenance of air safety in Nigeria could not be glossed over stressing that its reportage has impacted tremendously on the aviation industry globally.
“As a matter of fact, Rotary Club, as we all know promotes excellence and the League of Aviation and Airports Correspondents (LAAC) is given an award based on professionalism.
“As we all know that in the industry, we don’t report sensationalism and over the years we have been working with them (League) in the industry. Rotary Club has also observed that the league has a crop of very professional journalists and this is why your reportage has been very wonderful and I know that the award is well-deserved,” he said.
Neji said the beauty about the club was that a newly-elected president has one year to understudy the incumbent so that they would able to come up with their agenda before the inauguration.
He announced that for year 2021/2022, he had thought out a seven-point programme to be executed.
They are child maternity health, education and literary, water and sanitation, environmental protection, peace and conflict resolution, diseases and prevention treatment and economic empowerment programmes.
Receiving the award on behalf of the league, chairman of the association, Mr. Olusegun Koiki, praised the club for the recognition.
He pledged the league’s commitment to continuously critique the aviation industry in order to entrench safety and security in the system.
