Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) has said that it is committed to supporting the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in its fight against illegal drug peddling.
The company was reacting to the recent find by NDLEA of some 442 parcels of crystal methamphetamine concealed in heads of smoked fish at the firms shed at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
The MD/CEO of the ground handling company, Mr. Basil Agboarumi said in a statement that SAHCO has a long-time commitment to supporting government’s agencies stationed at every point where SAHCO conducts businesses by giving them unhindered access to every nook and cranny of both import and export warehouses.
He also said the firm provides the necessary scanning machines and other screening technologies to support NDLEA and other government agencies for efficient and effective operations.
Agboarumi further stated that SAHCO has a campaign “See Something, Say Something, Do Something” slogan in which all staff are trained to always call attention to unscrupulous activities and crooked acts.
Besides, he said the company has a pool of well-trained staff who are equipped to know what to look out for in accordance with international best practices before accepting any cargo.
He added that the staff are also trained to cooperate with Government’s agencies like the NDLEA assigned to SAHCO’s import and export warehouses.
Agboarumi also reiterated that SAHCO, which is a major gateway to import and export in Nigeria, has one of the best warehouses in West Africa and these warehouses are customs bonded.
“The warehouses which are built with the latest technology are constructed with the customers’ best interest at heart and also for the purpose of maintaining our clients’ trust by ensuring that clients of questionable businesses are not allowed to use SAHCO’s warehouses as gateways for their nefarious activities.” he said.
