National chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Uche Secondus, on Saturday asked the deputy national chairman (south), Mr. Yemi Akinwomi, to preside over the national executive committee meeting of the party in his stead.

Recall that the Rivers State High Court had last week barred Secondus from parading himself as chairman of the party.

However, last Thursday, a High Court in Kebbi State restored him to his position.

But yesterday, a High Court in Cross River State granted an interim order restraining him from resuming as chairman of the party.

Secondus had resumed at the party’s headquarters in Abuja yesterday after he was reinstated by the court in Kebbi and was set to preside over the national executive committee meeting of the party slated for today (Saturday) in Abuja when the Cross River ruling came.

Consequently, he excused himself from the meeting and asked Akinwonmi to take charge.

In a letter to Akinwomi, Secondus said, “I hereby request you to preside over the National Executive Committee meeting of the Party, taking place today, 28th August, 2021@ 12 noon, in my absence.

“Thank you.”
