The South African authorities have deported 97 Nigerians for alleged civil and criminal offences.
News Gazette gathered that the deportees comprising 95 males and two females arrived at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport on Monday night onboard a chartered aircraft marked GBB710.
It was also learnt that six were deported for alleged drug and related offences, 10 were arrested and deported for criminal offences while others committed immigration offences.
Those deported for drug and criminal offences were immediately handed over to the police for further prosecution while others with civil cases were left to go home after profiling the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) personnel at the airport.
