Professionals and stakeholders in the aviation industry gather on Wednesday, July 17 for the 23rd annual conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) to discuss diverse issues affecting the sector.
Chairman of the conference committee, Mr. Albinus Chiedu said in a press statement in Lagos that the event which holds at Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos has the theme: Boosting Aviation Investment through policy.’
He announced that participants expected from overseas had already arrived in Nigeria for the event.
He said London-based president of African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA) and chief executive officer of African Aviation Services Limited, Mr. Nick Fadugba, had confirmed attendance.
He also said the chairman of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema, will set the tone for the direction of discussions at the event.
Chiedu also quoted the chairman of the occasion and chief executive officer of Med- View Airline, Mr. Muneer Bankole as saying that he would expect this year’s edition to be thought provoking as well as open doors for better synergy and understanding between the public and private sectors within the industry and how that can bring about better investment.
Two papers will be delivered at the event, with former director-general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr Harold Demuren functioning as the lead speaker.
He will be sharing his wealth of experience after many years of serving in both public and private sectors of the aviation industry.

Chiedu also said the chief Executive officers of aviation agencies will form the panel of discussants with the rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Capt. Abdulsalami Mohammed as moderator.
While Mohammed, would moderate, the managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt. Hamisu Yadudu, and the commissioner of Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) Mr. Akin Olateru, would be part of the panelists.
Other panelists are the director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (AIB), Capt. Muhtar Usman, as well as the managing director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) Capt. Fola Akinkuotu
The other major players and airline operators expected to at the conference the managing director of Bristow Helicopters, Capt. Dapo Oyeleke, managing director of Dana Air, Mr. Jacky Hathiramani, and the managing director of Aero, Capt Ado Sanusi, among others.
