Persons suspected to be thieves have broken into the residence of the parents of Leah Sharibu, the only student of Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe state, still in Boko Haram captivity.
It was gather that thieves invaded the house on Monday and made away with the family’s belongings, including food stuff and a generator.
The president of Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association (ACIPA), Luke Shehu, who confirmed the incident said Leah’s mother, Rebecca told him that the people who invaded their house were thieves, not armed robbers.
“I just spoke to Mrs. Rebecca Sharibu, mother of Leah Sharibu. I told her to tell me exactly what happened. She told me that the people who came to their house were not armed robbers but thieves. I asked her when? She said yesterday (Monday). She said the thieves entered through the fence.
“Mrs. Sharibu said the thieves entered through the window and then stole their generator and also carted away foodstuffs inside the house. She said they were not armed robbers.
“I told her that she should give the real picture for the world to know the circumstances from a true perspective. Honestly, that was what connected me to them and that was exactly what she told me.
“Once again, the incident happened yesterday (Monday), the thieves climbed the fence, entered through the window, stole their foodstuffs and a generator. They were not robbers but thieves and the family members were not in the house when the thieves visited,” said Shehu

One hundred and five of the students regained freedom on March 21, 2018 through a series of ‘behind-the-scene discussion’ while five were said to have died of asphyxiation on the day of captivity and were given a mass burial.
But Sharibu, the only Christian girl among the captives, was held back by her captors because she refused to renounce her faith.
