President Bola Tinubu yesterday assigned portfolios to 45 ministers who were cleared by the senate on Monday, August 7
Like former President Muhammadu Buhari, Tinubu will head the ministry of petroleum resources. He assigned the junior ministerial position in the ministry to Mr Heineken Lokpobiri from Bayelsa State.
The geo-political distribution of ministerial slots showed that the northwest has 10 ministers, made up of five senior and five ministers of state; north central, eight, with six senior ministers; and southwest with seven senior and two ministers of state.
The northeast has six senior ministers and one minister of state.
The south-south has five senior ministers and two ministers of state, while the southeast has four senior ministers and one minister of state.
However, Tinubu reserved the minister of environment and ecological management ministry for the nominee from Kaduna State, who was yet to be announced.
Besides, he did not name the minister of Niger Delta Affairs which is believed to be reserved for a nominee from Delta State or it has been subsumed under the presidency.

Meanwhile, the secretary to the government of the federation, Mr. George Akume, said in a statement that the ministers-designate would be sworn in by the president on Monday, August 21 at the State House Conference Centre, Aso Villa, Abuja, at 10am on Monday.
The statement signed by the director of information in the office of the SGF, Mr Willie Bassey, said the new ministers are expected to come with two guests each.
