Demola Olarewaju, aide to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, Mr Atiku Abubakar, has said that the relationship between President Bola Tinubu and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, is not for the benefit of either the FCT residents in particular or Nigerians in general.

Olarewaju who stated this on his X handle emphasised that Nigerians are the ultimate losers in the alliance between Tinubu and Wike.

He said Tinubu’s choice of Wike as FCT minister is purely transactional.

“Tinubu picking Wike as Minister of FCT was never about delivering results for the people of Abuja – it was simply a raw power transaction, and Nigerians are the ultimate loser.

“The man is negotiating these things all away for 2027, directly to the detriment of Nigerians,” he said.

On the 2023 election won by Tinubu, the aide said the president had a clearer path to victory in the poll and lashed out at Wike who aligned with Tinubu before the election.

He said Wike’s earlier alignment with presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the election, Mr Peter Obi, was not genuine but a means to an end.

“This man was heavily romancing Obi during the election and people were hailing him, not knowing he had agbado in his heart of hearts.

“He used the Obi wave to legitimise his G5 anti-party activities, then aligned himself with Tinubu who had a clearer path to victory,” he added.
