UI, ABU, resume academic activities October 24

The University of Ibadan (UI) has approved the resumption of academic activities in the institution on Monday, October 24.

This is contained in a release by the registrar and secretary to council of UI, Mrs.  Olubunmi Faluyi on Wednesday in Ibadan.

She said the senate of the university at a special meeting held on October 17, 2022 the date as resumption date for the continuation of the 2021/2022 academic session.

“Consequently, halls of residence would be opened from October 23, 2022.

“On behalf of the council and senate of the university, we wish our students journey mercies as they return to the campus,” Faluyi said.

Similarly, the management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, scheduled the resumption of academic activities for October 24.

Spokesman for the institution, Mr. Auwal Umar, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Zaria.

He said that the resumption followed the suspension of the eight-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Umar said the senate of the university approved the resumption date at its 516th (emergency) meeting.

He said the senate also approved the university’s revised academic calendar for 2021/2022 session.

According to him, the calendar earlier approved by the senate at its 513th (regular) meeting held on November 25, 2021, had to be revised due to the strike which was called off last week.
