The mother of a two month-old-baby, Mariam Adetilewa Dirisu, has been re-arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for trafficking in 5kg skunk and 8.1grammes of molly.
Skunk is a form of marijuana, a slang term usually used to mean the dried leaves and stalks of the plant.
Molly, on the other hand is a synthetic drug similar to a stimulant and a hallucinogen. It produces feelings of increased energy, pleasure, emotional warmth and distorted sensory and time perception.
Spokesman for NDLEA, Mr. Femi Babafemi said in a statement that the suspect who claimed to be a part-time 400-level student of International Studies and Diplomacy at the University of Benin, was arrested barely a week after she was picked up and granted bail for attempting to smuggle drugs concealed in cassava flour called ‘akpu’ into NDLEA cell for another suspect in custody.
Babafemi said the nursing mother was first arrested in Edo on October 21, but the chairman/chief executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd), on the same day, directed that she be counselled and released immediately because of her infant.
Curiously, he said a controlled delivery operation carried out by operatives of the Delta State Command of the agency had on October 30, again led to the arrest of Dirisu, who had ordered for the drugs from Lagos, while on bail for an earlier offence.
