The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday named the governor Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike as a member of the 2023 presidential election campaign council without assigning any prominent role to him.
The 326-member presidential campaign team was announced in a released signed by the party’s national organising secretary, Mr. Bature Umar.
The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel was appointed chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council.
The governor of Sokoto State, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal was named as the director general of the council with the former governor of Cross River State, Mr. Liyel Imoke as the deputy director general in charge of operations.
The party named the governor of Bauchi State, Mr. Bala Mohammed as vice chairman of the council for the north while his counterpart in Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde, was made the southern vice president.
The other members of the campaign council include the governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom, former national secretary of the PDP, Prof. Adewale Oladipo, director general operations; Mr. Raymond Dokpesi, deputy director general, technical and systems, and former national chairman of the party, Mr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, deputy director general, research
The presidential campaign council has four categories of directorates, with Adewale in charge of directorate of administration, directorate of finance, and directorate of legal affairs; Dokpesi, directorate of technology, directorate of situation room, directorate of election management, and directorate of training.
Imoke is in charge of operations, which is further divided into the directorate of field operations and logistics, directorate of strategic communications, directorate of security, and directorate of support groups, while Nwodo oversees the directorate of research, directorate of intelligence and strategy, directorate of monitoring and evaluation, and directorate of international affairs.
he list consists of the names of former Vice President Namadi Sambo, serving as well as former State Governors of the party, former Ministers who are still members of the PDP, and members of the Board of Trustees among others.
Former senate presidents – Messrs David Mark, Bukola Saraki and Pius Ayim as well as the former deputy senate president, Mr. Ike Ekwerenmadu also made the list.
All the party’s governors are also members of the committee.
Bature said all the members will be inaugurated on September 28, 2022.
