A 28-year-old woman, Mrs. Chidinma Amaechi, who was delivered of quintuplets after nine years of marriage, has called on the government and public-spirited people to assist to settle over N7.5m medical bills.
It was learnt that the babies, three boys and two girls, were delivered through a caesarian section last Thursday, February 30 at the Life International Hospital, Awka, Anambra State.
The woman, who is married to an Onitsha-based trader, Mr. Tochukwu Amaechi, finished her National Youth Service Corps programme in July 2022.
The woman’s elder sister, Mrs. Ebele Oranekwu, who spoke to journalists at the hospital said the babies were in the in the intensive care unit of the hospital.
She said the bill for the incubators alone was N250,000 per day, adding that the babies are expected to spend about 30 days in the facility.
“This bill amounts to about N7.5m aside from other huge bills already accumulated in the last two months of managing the delicate pregnancy at the hospital.
“We are calling on philanthropists, government and non-governmental organisations to come to our aid to enable us to settle the huge medical bills so we can reap the full benefits of God’s blessings upon our family.”
