Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has renewed the ground handling contract with British Airways (BA) for another five years.
Spokesperson for SAHCO, Mrs Vanessa Uansohia said in a statement issued in Lagos that the firm would be in charge of the airline’s ground handling at the international airports in Lagos and Abuja during that period.
In the terms of the contract, SAHCO would be providing passenger handling services, baggage handling services, ramp handling services, cargo handling services and warehousing for BA at the two airports.
The statement quoted the MD/CEO of SAHCO, Mr Basil Agboarumi, as saying that the contract renewal “promises to continuously deliver quality and improved ground handling services through SAHCO’s well trained staff in all of SAHCO’S stations.”
He said the decision to renew the contract for five years was taken by BA after it did its due diligence through rigorous audits from its international team for all the ground handling companies in Nigeria and still found SAHCO to be the best.
SAHCO, according to the release started providing ground handling services to the British carrier in 2020 when BA moved its ground handling contract to SAHCO after operating in Nigeria for over 40 years.
