Air Peace and Ethiopian Airlines yesterday airlifted a total of total of 431 Nigerians who were stranded in the United States and India as a as a result of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOm) the evacuees tested negative for COVID-19 before boarding and would immediately proceed on the 14 days mandatory self-isolation.
The 109 evacuees from India arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja via Air peace, while 322 people returned from the United States on Ethiopia Airlines flight.
“109 evacuees from India arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Airport, Abuja at 1940HRS via Air Peace Flight B777-200 from India today, Saturday 4th of July, 2020.
“All evacuees tested negative to COVID-19 and will now proceed on 14 days self-isolation as mandated by the National Centre for Disease Control and the Federal Ministry of Health, and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
“35 evacuees disembark in Abuja while 74 will proceed to the Murtala Muhammed Int’l Airport, Lagos.
“322 evacuees arrived at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos via Flyethiopia ET 509 from the USA.
“All evacuees tested negative to COVID-19 and will now proceed on 14 days self-isolation as mandated by the National Centre for Disease Control and the Federal Ministry of Health, and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19,” said NiDCOM in its tweets.
