Air Peace has attributed the disruption of its operation to Uyo today to an incident at the general aviation terminal, Lagos, which damaged the aircraft scheduled for the flight.

Spokesman for the airline, Mr. Chris Iwarah said in a statement today that the incident occurred in the morning during loading of passengers’ luggage into the cargo hold of the aircraft scheduled for the Lagos-Uyo flight.

He said the door of the rear cargo hold was impacted and damaged in the incident.

“The aircraft has been declared unserviceable. The airline’s Uyo-bound passengers were rescheduled to fly later in the day,” he said adding that officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) were already investigating the incident.

Iwarah said the airline “deeply regrets the disruption of its Lagos-Uyo service and the delay the incident caused its passengers” and assured that arrangements had been made to take the affected passengers to their destination.
