The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has charged indigenes of the state residing in Abuja and the northern states to maintain effective communication link with the state government for timely response to issues affecting the wellbeing of Akwa Ibom people living in Abuja and other states.
The governor gave the charge during his recent visit to Abuja where he held a town hall meeting with the Akwa Ibom indigenes living in the in the Federal Capital Territory and the 19 northern states.
He said his administration had repositioned the state by upgrading infrastructure and setting up industries to reduce the rate of unemployment.
The governor who pledged to consolidate his achievements in the second an even do more also implored Akwa Ibom indigenes to market products made in the state in Abuja and the northern states.
“We have uplifted the living standard of our people and we want to do more because Akwa Ibom people deserve the good things of life. There are numerous quality goods produced in Akwa Ibom. We are known for doing things the right way. So, it is your duty to market these products wherever you live, in Abuja and the other states,” he said.
In his remarks, the national coordinator of Udom Frontiers, Ambassador Ime Victor expressed appreciation to the governor for the visit.
Victor who described the event as “first of its kind” said: “Having understudied Your Excellency’s administration for the past three years, and also noting your outstanding achievements most especially in the areas of industrialization, social amenities provision, human capital development, education and security, we have concluded that Your Excellency deserves a second term in office in order to complete the uncompleted projects in Akwa Ibom State.”
He said the group had done series of mobilisation for the 2019 general elections and had set up offices in the northern states, including Kaduna, Bauchi, Plateau, Adamawa, Sokoto, Katsina, Niger, Nasarawa and Benue.
“Our mission is to create a formidable structure that will ensure the return of your administration to office in 2019,” he added.
“We are different from some other support groups because we’re not just coming to carry placards and wear t-shirts; we are actively involved in your second term project,” he added.
