A stalwart of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Mr. Buba Galadima has said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023 election, Mr. Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Mr. Peter Obi are wasting their resources at the presidential election petition tribunal challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress at the polls.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television programme yesterday, Galadima said elections were married with irregularities but maintained that the outcome of any presidential election has never been overturned by the courts since 1979.

“Which politician has succeeded in court since 1979 in Nigeria in a presidential petition case? Why waste our N10 billion or N15 billion because we heard some people are spending such billions now on social media at the tribunal; if we have such money we would use it to prepare for the 2027 general election,” he said.

On the conduct of the polls, Galadima accused the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu of subverting the will of Nigerians.

He said what Yakubu did was more grievous than the “sins” allegedly committed by the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

“The INEC chairman must go, what he did is not up to what Godwin Emefiele did. He colluded with some people to subvert the will of Nigerians. He committed the greatest crime anybody will commit,” he said.
