The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Atiku Abubakar yesterday took his electioneering to Kano where he was received by an unprecedented large crowd that had gathered at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Wearing a red cap, symbol of Kwankwasiyya, a pressure group owned by the former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the PDP flag bearer said if he wins the February 16 presidential poll, his administration would turn the Kano’s lost glory as the hub of commence, industry and agriculture around.
Atiku who was accompanied the Kwankwasiyya supreme leader, Kwankwaso, the national chairman of the party, Mr. Uch Secondus, the senate president, the director general of the Atiku campaign team, Dr. Bukola Saraki and many other PDP stalwart spoke about the failure of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
He called on the people to punish the Buhari-led administration by voting it out of office.
“Are you going to vote for PDP? If you vote for PDP, the government will revitalize business and the moribund industries in Kano. We will also boost agriculture.
“I will ensure that among my priorities would be the revitalization of agriculture, industries and commercial activities so as to boost the economy, which has been killed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
“Vote for the PDP; if you vote the PDP, I promise that I will restore Kano’s lost glory. The wealth of Kano is in its trade and commerce; the wealth of Kano is in its agriculture. I make this solemn pledge today to revive all these sectors which have been killed.
“I also promise to ease (issues around) pilgrimage to the holy land. Please remember, vote the PDP from top to bottom, bottom to top. God bless you,” he said.
Overwhelmed by the crowd that converged on the stadium, Atiku remarked: “Did you notice that Sani Abacha Stadium was filled to capacity and those who could not get access spilled into the town and literarily locked down the city?”
Also addressing the crowd, Kwankwaso said it was all over for the APC in the state.
He said the unbelievable crowd that turned up at the rally had sent a message to Aso Rock that PDP was in charge in Kano that delivered about 1.9 million votes to Buhari in 2015.
“Today, Kano people and particularly, the youths have shown that Kano is for PDP and Kwankwasiyya,” he said.
In his remarks, Saraki blamed the APC-led government for the hunger experienced in the country.
The senate president urged the people to reject the APC at the polls saying a ‘vote for Atiku is a vote for food on the table.”
