The former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose has arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Wuse 2, Abuja.
Fayose who arrived at the anti-graft agency’s office at 1.43pm on Tuesday wore a blue T-shirt with the inscription ‘EFCC, I’m here!’ also carried a blue backpack.
Fayose who announced his arrival at the EFCC on his twitter handle wrote: “I’m now in the custody of EFCC. While I’m here, my media aide, @OlayinkaLere will operate this twitter handle. Thank you.”

Before turning himself in on Tuesday, he challenged public officials in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to toe his line and submit themselves for interrogation by the EFCC.
“In few minutes, I will be at the EFCC Old Office, Wuse 2, Abuja,” he tweeted.
It would be recalled that Fayose, while serving as governor, was President Buhari’s critic-in-chief and both men met and shook hands with each other only once in four years.
Before serving out his tenure on October 15, Fayose had in the letter dated September 10, 2018 and addressed to the chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu notifying the agency of his (Fayose’s) decision to make himself available before it on October 16.
Fayose who personally signed the letter entitled ‘Notification of my decision to make myself available in your office to clarify issue(s) or answer questions on issues within my knowledge’, said his desire to submit himself to the commission was hinged “on several and serial actions of your commission for some time now, including but not limited to freezing of my accounts and attempts to secure temporary forfeiture of my properties.”
He said the commission’s actions are indicative of its desire “to have me clarify some issues or answer some questions but for the immunity I enjoy under Section 308 of the 1999 Constitution as the sitting governor of Ekiti State.”
“I wish to inform you that my term of office pursuant to which I enjoy immunity against investigation and prosecution under the above provision shall lapse by effusion of time on October 15, 2018.
“As a responsible citizen of our great country, who believes in the rule of law, I wish to inform you of my decision to make myself available in your office on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 1p.m. to clarify issues or answer questions within my knowledge.
“Kindly confirm the suitability of the above date or indicate by return, the commission’s convenient date,” he stated in the letter.
“I’m a man who stands by his words and I hope that after today, those President Buhari’s men that have been accused of corruption will also be bold enough to submit themselves to the @officialEFCC,” Fayose twitted @GovAyoFayose October 16, 2018, as he arrived at the commission’s office.
