The minister of finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun has resigned her appointment.

It could not be ascertained when she resigned as she was said to have reported for work in the morning.

Sources said Adeosun’s resignation was connected with the certificate scandal that had dogged her in the past months.

It would be recalled that Premium Times had carried an exclusive report alleging that the minister forged an exemption certificate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) after failing to enroll for the one-year mandatory scheme for all Nigerian graduates.

Despite public pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack her, she was still being accommodated by the government.

In July, the authorities of the NYSC promised to investigate the origin of the purported exemption certificate issued to her.

It is believed that NYSC might have turned it its report which, if made public, would embarrass the federal government.

“Adeosun has done the most honourable thing by resigning,” said a source.
