The national youth leader for the Niger Delta Peace Movement, Mr Peter Udofia has charged commentators in the Rivers State political crisis to exercise restraint to avoid heightened escalation of the feud between the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the suspended governor of the state, Mr Siminalayi Fubara.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Udofia particularly cautioned the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) against taking sides with either party and called on the organisation and others to “act as mediators, not aggravators.”
He blamed the oragnisation for inflaming the political situation in the state with statements which paint one of the gladiators black while absolving the other of any blame.
He also called on Wike and Fubara to toe the path of peace for the growth of Rivers State and to a greater extent the Niger Delta.
“Our region cannot afford disunity. It is never too late to make peace,” he added.
