Staff of Aero who occupied the company’s corporate headquarters in Lagos since the airline suspended its operations on September 1 and sent them (staff) on compulsory and indeterminate leave have called off the action following the intervention of the minister of state for aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika.
Addressing the workers, Sirika said the primary purpose of government is to encourage existing businesses and provide jobs for the populace.
He appealed to the workers to disperse to discontinue the demonstration and promised take up their matter with the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), Aero management and other critical stakeholders.
“We will look into your demands, and come out with solutions that are mutually beneficial to you, management and the government” he added.
He said the government “is committed to creating jobs and improving the general well being of Nigerians.”
Sirika was accompanied by the director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Usman Muktar, director of maintenance and engineering at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (NCAA), Mr. Oluwafemi Ogunode, and Dr. Ibrahim Idris from the minister’s office.
