RwandAir has announced its registration as an ISAGO (IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations) Certified Ground Service Provider (GSP) under the IATA –ISAGO registry.

The chief executive officer of the airline, Mr. John Mirenge, said the certification which is valid till July 2018, followed an audit conducted on RwandAir Ground Operations in July 2016 by WAKEQA, IATA approved audit organisation.

“The audit was concluded with minimal findings and observations. With this achievement, RwandAir will provide enhanced ground handling services with high safety standards to its customer airlines and private jets operating at Kigali International Airport, while maximizing productivity,” he said.

He said the qualification would not have been possible without the dedication of the airline’s staff.

“The pursuit of the ISAGO certification, in addition to the existing IOSA certification, confirms RwandAir’s commitment to the industry best practices in operational safety to a world class level,” Mirenge added.

ISAGO is an IATA standardized and structured audit programme for Ground Service Providers (GSP) that modeled on the success of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).

The audit uses internationally recognized ground operational standards that are aimed at reducing risk and cost as well as minimizing damages and incidents.

From its hub in Kigali, RwandAir operates to 19 cities in Western, Eastern, and Southern Africa and the Middle East.

As part of RwandAir’s expansion strategy it took delivery of its first wide-bodied A330-200 aircraft last September and receives its third and fourth B737- 800NG in November 2016 and May 2017 and the second A330-300 in November 2016.
